Steinway Grand Piano returns to Waverly Heights in Gladwyne, Pa.

Waverly Heights is a 63 acre campus that was formerly a Philadelphia Main Line Estate. It is located in Gladwyne, Pa. and many of its residents are active supporters of the arts in our region.

The facility boasts a wonderful recital hall and an impressive recital series that is supported through Astral Artists of Philadelphia. They only had one problem. Their piano was a 7 ft. Steinway, but it was originally built in 1917, was simply was not up to the task of supporting the world class artists that their music committee hoped to attract.

So a group which included former professors, CEO's, and a concert pianist did a tremendous amount of research on the best way to solve their problem. They auditioned new Steinway pianos, auditioned examples of restorations, and considered rebuilding their own beautiful Steinway. The last consideration, rebuilding their 1917 Steinway, seemed to make sense.
After comparing many proposals and speaking to many companies, the music committee chose Cunningham Piano Company to perform their restoration. To hear Alexendre Moutouskine perform on the instrument and hear the thoughts of the committee, please watch the video below.
